We are 2 weeks deep in 2025 and I hope you are crushing your New Year's resolutions!
However I thought I'd share some thoughts and ideas on how to approach them when it comes to fitness.
Some research shows that 95% of New Years resolutions are health and fitness related, however only 10% of people think their resolution will last past the 3 month mark.

Why is this?
From personal experience and what data tells us, the main culprit is that most people set unrealistic expectations which leads to burnout and early disappointment. This is because we tend to set these types of goals when we are highly motivated, but motivation fades over time.
Instead try these 6 tips to crush your New Year's Resolution and get started the right way ensuring you stick to it for as long as possible.
1- Be Specific With Your Goals: Goals that are vague, such as "get fit," don't provide a clear path or measurable milestones. Instead, set specific goals that you know are achievable in the short term. For example, "I will exercise twice a week" or "I will eat a high protein breakfast"

2- Establish Accountability: Without someone to hold them accountable, it can be easy to fall back into old habits. Partner with a friend, join a class, or use fitness apps that remind and motivate you. Consider hiring a personal trainer or coach for additional support.
3- Create a detailed plan: Without a well-defined plan, it's difficult to maintain consistency or track progress. Plan your workouts on a calendar. Establish a routine that fits into your lifestyle and track your progress and metrics.
4- Manage Your Expectations: Many expect immediate results and become frustrated when changes take time. Focus on the process rather than quick results. Track progress in terms of consistency or strength gains rather than just weight loss.
5- Sustained Motivation: Initial excitement often fades, and sustaining motivation becomes challenging without regular encouragement. Set rewards for reaching milestones, keep a fitness journal, or engage with fitness communities online for encouragement.
6- Prepare For Obstacles: Life events or unexpected challenges can disrupt routines and cause setbacks. Identify potential challenges in advance and have backup plans. For example, have a short home workout routine ready if you can't make it to the gym.
If you apply these 6 tips you will ensure you face your New Year's Resolutions the right way, making them achievable, sustainable and hopefully lasting a lifetime!
Until Next Time.
